OUR MISSION
La Casa is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive services, including shelter, in order to diminish domestic violence and abuse in all forms. Our services are available to ALL individuals, regardless of race, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin or disability.

We envision a community knowledgeable about domestic violence and abuse and fully engaged and committed to its eradication.
OUR CREED
We believe domestic violence and abuse can be overcome. We believe that dignity, social justice, safety, freedom from abuse and the pursuit of happiness are basic human rights for all, rights that can only be realized with the active engagement of the entire community. In all our endeavors we affirm these rights without regard to race, creed, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or any other differentiating factors. We actively oppose all forms of violence and abuse including physical, psychological, emotional, verbal, sexual and economic.
La Casa History
Founded in 1981 by a group of community volunteers, La Casa has been providing 25 years of safe housing and counseling for victims of domestic violence and their children. As the needs in the community have grown, La Casa has expanded its services to include non-resident counseling to victims/survivors, children's services, case management, advocacy, civil legal services, community outreach and education, parenting, transitional housing, and a counseling program for court- and self-referred domestic violence offenders. La Casa also offers ESL, GED, literacy and mentorship services for the families served.
La Casa has one of the safest and most modern emergency shelter facilities in the state of New Mexico. It is open 365 nights per year and is staffed around the clock with a paid staff person trained in crisis intervention and intake procedures. The Shelter has a total of 45 beds, with family members sharing double beds at times. When the 45 beds are occupied, some families must spend the night in the living room or playroom areas.
